Terms of use
These terms are between you and [Your name or company] ("we"), who run Local Community. By using the app you agree to them.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or over and use your own details. One account per person.
Being a good neighbour
- Be kind and honest. No harassment, hate, threats, scams or anything illegal.
- Only post things that are yours to give, and describe them truthfully.
- Never post anyone's address. Hand over at the public spots, and share details in private chat.
- Look after your own safety when meeting people. Meet in public, and tell someone where you're going.
- Posts are kept short (280 characters).
Tokens
- Tokens let you apply for items people offer, free or for sale, and list your own items for sale (5 tokens per item). Your first 4 give-aways of items are free; after that each give-away uses 5 tokens. Sharing food is always free. Tokens are not money, have no cash value and can't be swapped or sold.
- Joining is free. Your first 2 months of tokens are free; after that, your 50 tokens a month cost 99p per month, or £9.99 for the year paid up front (you still receive 50 tokens each month; paying for the year is simply cheaper). Everyone on the app has tokens. You can stop at any time.
- Each month you get 50 more tokens. Unused tokens carry over.
- You never pay for items through the app. If something is for sale, you pay the seller directly.
- Tokens are taken as soon as you apply for an item, whether or not you're chosen, and are never returned. If you're chosen and don't collect, it counts as a missed collection.
Give-aways
- The giver chooses who gets an item, or uses a random draw. If the person picked doesn't confirm or turn up, someone else is picked at random.
- Missed collections go on your private record. Too many in a short time pause your applications for a while.
- Items are given as they are. We don't check them and aren't responsible for their condition or safety.
Local businesses
Businesses can post up to 4 times a week, always labelled as a business. Free offers for the community are checked by the community's admins. Businesses are responsible for what they offer.
Your content
You own what you post. You let us show it in the app to the people it's meant for. We can remove posts, and pause or close accounts, that break these terms.
Our responsibility
We work hard to keep the app running and safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error free. We aren't responsible for what happens between neighbours, including hand-overs, jobs and lifts. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under UK consumer law, or our responsibility where the law doesn't allow us to limit it.
Changes and law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app first. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
